Fantastic Four Trailer Review

The new Trailer for The next Fantastic Four is out and this one definitely shows more than the last. In case you haven’t seen it yet here it is for your viewing pleasure.

So first things first. I wasn’t a very big fan of the first two films from a few years back…not many were, hence why they never made a third. But hey at least Chris Evans got to make a name for himself and eventually got cast as Captain America where we all love him now. The main problems I had with the previous ones were the crappy, predictable, cliché, story lines and the reliance on visual effects OVER a good story. Not to mention the over sexualization of the storm siblings throughout both movies.

This reboot however looks to me like they are going for a grittier, epic feel and I think it’s the right way to go. If they can distance themselves from the mistakes that the previous films made and give us a set of characters we can care about and relate to. Then I believe it will be quite a success.

A fair amount people on the web seem to be a bit annoyed about the race change for Johnny Storm the Human Torch. While I understand some people’s initial confusion, this isn’t exactly big news. Many characters have had their race changed in recent years and almost always its been for the better. This is why we got the awesome black/blue Electro and not the stupid guy in green and yellow spandex version in The Amazing Spiderman 2, or the Samuel L. Jackson version of Nick Fury.

See, not so weird anymore ...

Anyways I think that going with the younger Ultimate Marvel Universe version of the Fantastic Four will bring a fresh new twist to an already familiar story, and will bring some interesting new elements to table that the original version lacked.

The graphics look phenomenal, especially this scene

and the story at least looks engaging. I wish they hadn’t shown quite so much in the trailer because I feel like I already know how the general plot will pan out. Hopefully they still have some surprises in store for us.

One question I have though is why they are using actor Tim Blake Nelson again. If you recall he played Mr. Blue AKA Dr. Sterns AKA The Leader in The Incredible Hulk.

Now last we saw, his character had just had the Hulks radioactive blood dripping on his head (supposedly turning him into The Leader) but then we never heard from him again… Yet here‘s the same actor playing yet another scientist in the very same New York City in a Marvel film. The only separation here is that 20th Century Fox still owns The Fantastic Four and not Disney so technically they aren’t in the same universe, still bit of an odd decision though. Apparently according to IMDB, Nelson will be playing the role of Dr. Harvey Elder AKA Mole Man

Harvey Elder (Earth-616) from Mighty Avengers Vol 1 1

Let’s just hope this role never pans out too, cause nobody wants to see that.

Batman v Superman Trailer Review

For my first post I think starting with what will likely be one of the biggest movies next year (heck the last five years!) is a great place to begin. But first of all if you haven't seen the new trailer
GO CHECK IT OUT RIGHT NOW!!!!!

HOLY CRAP RIGHT! I know lots of people out there have been complaining about Batfleck but personally I think this is going to be hands down the best on screen batman we have ever seen! While we didn't get to see too much of the latest imagining of the Dark Knight what we did see looks to me to be an accurate representation of what Batman should be.

And his voice! I had to re watch that part again just to hear it one more time (OK maybe it was five times but it was just that awesome!) I mean, if I was a criminal and I heard that voice come from the shadows of an abandoned warehouse "TELL ME DO YOU BLEED" I would probably crap my pants on the spot. I really did enjoy the Christian Bale Batman but I genuinely believe this new incarnation will be better in every way.

As far as what the story holds, I feel like there really isn't much to go on for now, and that's just fine with me. Seeing as the movie is still one year out this teaser was more than any of us could have expected. Besides we all know they're going to end up shaking hands in the end (hence the name Dawn of Justice)

But the questions still remain: Why are they fighting? Why is superman supposedly acting like a god? Why are soldiers kneeling before him? (Kneel before Zod anyone?) How will Wonder Woman come in, and of course who will win? I for one am incredibly excited for this huge movie event and can’t wait to see more!

PS: I love the way the Batman logo rose out of shadows behind Supes, it was  nice touch :)
